welcome to atelier

Launched in 2025 by artist Mel Evans, Atelier brings together a variety of art classes and coaching sessions designed to support creativity, connection, and personal growth. Whether you're a child just discovering the joy of paint, a busy adult needing a creative outlet, or an aspiring artist preparing for the next step, there’s something for everyone.

At Atelier, we treat everyone like a true artist - with still life’s, figures and art from history as inspiration, and professional tools and materials in hand, we create a space where you can explore, express and grow through art.

why choose atelier?

Mel Evans is a professional painter and exhibiting artist with over twenty years of creative experience. She studied art and philosophy in Cardiff before making her home in Sussex, where she continues to develop her practice.

Since becoming a mother in 2022, Mel has been deeply inspired by the vivid imagination of young children and is passionate about treating their artistic expression with the same seriousness and respect given to adult creativity. At the same time, she is navigating the transformative journey of perimenopause, which has highlighted the essential need for creative outlets that offer both expression and relief.

Drawing on her extensive background as a painter, prop maker, and scenic artist, Mel brings her unique blend of skills - and her deep empathy as a local mother - to create Atelier: a safe, nurturing, and inspiring space where both children and adults are encouraged to explore and grow through art.
